Beyond the inbox
Emirates Wire convenes. Our first event was held at the National Liberal Club in London on 9 September 2026, on the UAE and the widening Gulf conflict, with David Waddell of BBC News in the chair, Michael Stephens of the Royal United Services Institute, James Swanston, Barclays’ Middle East and North Africa economist, and the Rt Hon Sir Oliver Dowden KCB CBE MP, chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for the UAE. The room was full, and the questions from the floor were as good as anything on the platform.
